How to Guide to Landscape Photography

In the first instance, what is Landscape Photography? In this blog I will attempt to describe my understanding of Landscape Photography. I’m no expert, I just take photographs that I will enjoy viewing for a long time and with luck, you will also.

What do I classify as a Landscape?

Landscapes to me are represented by images either mental or physical of areas of land that could include a whole host of natural elements, wooded areas, fields, streams, waterfalls and other wide visual vistas. Landscapes can also encapsulate specific objects such as townscapes, industrial and seascapes. Here are some examples:

Gates in the Lake District
Disused Quarry Lake District

Broadway at Night NY City

As a complete contrast the nightlife of New York

Petronas Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur

This would fall under the category of City Scape. I have been reliably informed that this image is now out of date as buildings have been popping up everywhere. Progress but interesting nevertheless

The above image was taken in Exmoor near Minehead and Dunster Castle after the Harvest on the right new growth near Thursley, and this is where I have taken my inspiration watching the field grow to maturity and harvest
Image taken in the morning bright and early to benefit from the cool sun giving a crisper light allowing to capture more detail from the background

A Trip to Petworth Park

Godalming Photographic Club visit Petworth for their annual wild life photography outing and this year the conditions were perfect. Early morning start gave us the stunning light laying a carpet of mist in the valley. The stags were performing their yearly routine, proving their right to mate with the doe. Here are just a few shots taken on Sunday 22nd October this year 2023.
